Three-point field goals were first introduced in the NBA in the 1979-1980 season

In the 1979-1980 season, the NBA introduced the three-point field goal. Since then, the NBA has seen some of the greatest shooters in history emerge. Here is a list of the players with the most three-pointers made in NBA history:

Stephen Curry is a professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Curry is credited as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. He is a six-time NBA All-Star and has been named the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice. In 2016, he helped lead the Warriors to their first championship in 40 years.

Curry was born in Akron, Ohio, but grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. His father, Dell Curry, also played in the NBA and his mother, Sonya Curry, was a former professional volleyball player. As a child, Curry played various sports including football and soccer. He began playing basketball at age 12 and soon became devoted to the game.

In high school, Curry led his team to three consecutive state championships. He then attended Davidson College where he continued his stellar play. As a junior, he set an NCAA record for three-pointers made in a season with 144. After his junior year, he decided to forgo his senior year and declare himself eligible for the 2009 NBA draft.

Curry was selected seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors. He would go on to have a successful rookie season averaging 17 points per game. The following year he improved his scoring average to 18 points per game and made his first All-Star team.

It was during the 2012-2013 season that Curry began to establish himself as one of the best players in the league. He averaged 22 points per game and made a then career-high 272 three-pointers. The Warriors also qualified for the playoffs that season for the first time since 2007.

The 2013-2014 season would be even better for both Curry and the Warriors. Curry averaged 24 points per game and won his first MVP award after leading the Warriors to an NBA best record of 67-15. He also set an NBA record for three-pointers made in a season with 286. The Warriors would go on to lose in the first round of the playoffs that year however, despite having home court advantage throughoutthe entire postseason .

The 2014-2015 season would see Curry elevate his game even further as he averaged 30 points per game while shooting an incredible 52% from three-point range . Stephen Curry is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A six-time NBA All-Star, he has been named the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice and won three NBA championships with the Warriors. Many players and analysts have called him the greatest shooter in NBA history. In 2014–15, Curry won his first MVP award and led the Warriors to their first championship since 1975. The following season, he became the first player in NBA history to be elected MVP by a unanimous vote and to lead the league in scoring while shooting above 50–40–90. That same year, the Warriors broke the record for most wins in an NBA season. Curry helped lead Team USA to a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Ray Allen

Ray Allen is currently the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made. Throughout his 18 seasons in the NBA, Allen has played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics, Boston Celtics, and Miami Heat. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 5th overall pick in the 1996 draft but was immediately traded to Milwaukee.

Allen is a 10-time All-Star and 2-time NBA champion. He won his first championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and his second with the Miami Heat in 2013. He was also named the NBA Finals MVP in 2013.

Reggie Miller is widely regarded as one of the best shooters in NBA history. He played his entire 18-year career with the Indiana Pacers, and is the franchise’s all-time leader in points, three-point field goals made, and free throws made. He is also the NBA’s all-time leader in three-point field goals made. In his second season, Miller led the league in three-point shooting percentage.

In 2005, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Miller was known for his clutch shooting and was an excellent free throw shooter. He is still the Pacers’ all-time leader in points per game (18.2), and three-point field goals made (2,560).

Kyle Korver

Kyle Korver is one of the best three-point shooters in NBA history. He currently ranks fourth all-time in three-pointers made, with 2,450. Korver is a sharpshooter who has played for several teams throughout his career, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Korver is known for his accurate shooting from long range. He has shot over 40% from three-point range in eight different seasons, including a league-leading 52.4% in 2009-10. Korver is also an excellent free throw shooter, as he has shot over 90% from the charity stripe in five different seasons.

Although he has never been selected to an All-Star team, Korver has been named to the All-NBA Third Team twice (2013 and 2014). He was also named the NBA’s Three-Point Shootout Champion in 2006.

Jason Terry

Jason Terry, nicknamed “The Jet”, is an American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. He played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats, where he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 1997 Final Four. Terry was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 10th overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in his first season.

With Atlanta, he played nine seasons, winning a division title in 2001 and reaching the playoffs five times. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2004, where he played eight seasons. He won an NBA championship with Dallas in 2011 and was voted Sixth Man of the Year that same season. He also earned a spot on the All-NBA Third Team that year. After leaving Dallas in 2012, Terry spent two seasons with the Boston Celtics. In 2014–15 season, he received limited minutes before being traded to Houston Rockets by Boston. Upon joining Houston, Terry won his second NBA Championship, playing a major role off the bench for them during their run to beat the Golden State Warriors in The Finals.

Terry holds several Mavericks franchise records and is currently sixth on their all-time scoring list with 12,040 points (as of February 3rd 2017). On December 2nd 2016 against his former team – Atlanta Hawks – Jason made his 2,518th three-pointer; which moved him past Larry Bird for 10th place on the all-time three point shooters list. As of February 3rd 2017 Jason has made 2,567 three pointers total throughout his 18 years playing in The Association ( NBA ).

Vince Carter

In his 21 seasons in the NBA, Vince Carter has made 1,830 three-pointers, which is good for ninth all time. He’s a nine-time All-Star and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.

Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce, nicknamed “The Truth”, is an American former professional basketball player who played 19 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a ten-time NBA All-Star and a four-time All-NBA team member. He won an NBA championship with the Celtics in 2008. Pierce is one of only three players, along with Larry Bird and John Havlicek, who have scored more than 20,000 points in their career with the Celtics alone. He has also made the fourth most three-point field goals in NBA history.

Jamal Crawford

Jamal Crawford is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played his college basketball for the University of Michigan before being drafted 8th overall in the 2000 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is a three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year, winning the award in 2010, 2014, and 2016, becoming just the second player to win the award three times (after Detlef Schrempf). As of 2019, he is ranked tenth all-time in NBA history with 2,047 three-point field goals made.

Peja Stojakovic

Peja Stojakovic ranks ninth on the NBA’s all-time three-point shooting list. He made 1,696 three-pointers in his career, which spanned from 1998 to 2011. Stojakovic was a member of the Sacramento Kings’ celebrated “Small Ball” lineup that included Chris Webber, Vlade Divac, Mike Bibby, and Doug Christie. This group helped lead the Kings to the 2002 Western Conference Finals.
