Which NBA Team Has Not Won a Championship?

The Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have not won an NBA Championship. The Clippers have been to the playoffs 27 times and have only made it to the Conference Finals 3 times.

The team’s history

The Los Angeles Clippers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Clippers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Clippers were founded in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, one of three expansion teams to join the NBA that year. The Braves moved from Buffalo, New York to San Diego, California in 1978 and became known as the San Diego Clippers. In 1984, the franchise relocated to Los Angeles.

The Clippers have won five division titles. Their most recent appearance in the NBA Finals was in 2006, when they lost to the Miami Heat in six games. They have never won an NBA championship, nor have they ever been really close to doing so; their farthest distance from winning an NBA championship was being one game away from making it to the finals in 1976, when they lost to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The team’s recent performance

Under Doc Rivers, the Los Angeles Clippers have been one of the best teams in the NBA over the past few years. They have made the playoffs in each of the last seven seasons, and they have won at least 50 games in six of those seasons. In 2020, they won a franchise-record 56 games and reached the Western Conference Finals for the first time in their history.

However, despite all of their regular season success, the Clippers have yet to win an NBA Championship. They have come close on a few occasions, but they always seem to fall just short. In 2015, they lost to the Houston Rockets in the Conference Semifinals. In 2016, they lost to the Golden State Warriors in the Conference Finals. And in 2020, they blew a 3-1 lead against the Denver Nuggets in the Conference Semifinals.

It remains to be seen if the Clippers will ever be able to break through and win an NBA Championship, but their recent success suggests that it is only a matter of time before they do.

The Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are an American professional basketball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Timberwolves compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division.

The team’s history

The Minnesota Timberwolves are an American professional basketball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Timberwolves compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. Founded in 1989, the team is owned by Glen Taylor who also owns the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. The Timberwolves play their home games at Target Center, their home since 1990.

Like most expansion teams, the Timberwolves struggled in their early years, but after the acquisition of Kevin Garnett in 1995, the team qualified for eight straight playoffs and won their first division championship in 2004. Unfortunately, they have yet to win an NBA Championship or Conference title.

Despite putting up a season-best 34–22 record in the lockout-shortened 1998–99 season, Garnett missed the playoffs for a fifth straight year. In 1999, Maloney lured Hall of Fame coach Bill Blakely out of retirement to serve as an interim head coach for 20 games. Blakely led the Wolves to their first playoff berth in eight years with a 35–25 record. However, injuries to Marbury and Garnett caused them to miss significant time during the 1999–2000 season and they failed to make the playoffs for a sixth consecutive year.

The New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans have not won an NBA Championship in their franchise history. They came close in the 2018-19 season, but lost to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. The Pelicans have a lot of young talent and could be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

The team’s history

The New Orleans Pelicans are an American professional basketball team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Pelicans compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays its home games in the Smoothie King Center.

The Pelicans were established as the New Orleans Hornets in the 2002–03 season when then-owner of the Charlotte Hornets, George Shinn, relocated the franchise to New Orleans. Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the franchise temporarily relocated to Oklahoma City, where they spent two seasons officially known as the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. The team returned to New Orleans full-time for the 2007–08 season. On January 24, 2013, with approval from both sides of an NBA Board of Governors vote, Tom Benson purchased controlling interest in Ellis’ shares of the team and announced its eventual rebranding as the Pelicans effective with the 2013–14 season.

In 16 seasons of play since their inception in 2002, the Pelicans have compiled a win–loss record of 1108–1316 (.457), qualifying for five playoffs appearances but never advancing beyond the first round. The team has played their home games at Smoothie King Center (formerly known as New Orleans Arena and Louisiana Superdome) since 2002.
