Wagner Baseball is pleased to announce its 2016 schedule. The Seahawks will play a total of 56 games, 28 of which will be at home on Staten Island

The Wagner College Seahawks will open their 2019 baseball season on the road, as they travel to North Carolina to take on the Catawba Indians. The two teams will face off on February 15th, with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 pm. The game will be played at Newman Park, which is the home field of the Catawba Indians.

This will be the first ever meeting between the Wagner College Seahawks and the Catawba Indians. The Seahawks are a Division I baseball team that plays in the East Conference while the Catawba Indians are a Division II Baseball Team that plays in the South Atlantic Conference

The Seahawks finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 19-27 and a conference record of 10-14. The team finished in fifth place in the Northeast Conference Standings and failed to qualify for the conference tournament The Catawba Indians finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 30-24 and a conference record of 16-8. The team finished in second place in the South Atlantic Conference standings and qualified for the conference tournament where they were defeated by Tusculum in the Opening Round

The much-anticipated Wagner college baseball schedule is finally here, and there are some interesting story lines to keep an eye on this season.

The Good:
Wagner will open their season at home against conference foe Monmouth on March 3rd. They will also have home games against some of the top teams in the Northeast, including Rhode Island Stony Brook and Albany.

The Bad:
Wagner will have to spend a lot of time on the road this season, with nearly half of their games being played away from Staten Island. They’ll also have to deal with some tough opponents while they’re on the road, including trips to Florida to play Miami and Central Florida.

The Ugly:
Wagner will end their season with a string of four straight road games, including a three-game series at Fairleigh Dickinson

The Wagner college baseball schedule has been announced, and there are some definite pros and cons to the list of opponents.

On the plus side, the Seahawks will open their season with a four-game home stand against some solid mid-major programs. They’ll host Iona from February 28th through March 3rd, then welcome Rider to Staten Island for a three-game set from March 7th-9th.

Wagner will also have some interesting home games later in the season, including a mid-week contest against in-state rivals Stony Brook on April 16th and a three-game weekend series against defending East Conference champion Central Connecticut from May 9th-11th.

However, there are also some challenges on the schedule. The Seahawks will play 23 of their first 28 games on the road, including an eight-game road trip through Florida and Georgia in March. They’ll also have to contend with trips to face conference foes Bryant (ranks fifth in RPI last year), Mount St. Mary’s (sixth in RPI), and Sacred Heart (seventh in RPI) during the heart of NEC play in April and May.
