As of 2014, the UCLA Bruins have hit a total of 2,606 home runs The most home runs in a season was 85, which was hit in 2000. The player with the most Home Runs in a career is Troy Glaus, who hit 52 homeruns from 1997-1998.

Most strikeouts in a season

Under Head Coach John Savage the UCLA Bruins have made seven trips to the College World Series including a National Championship in 2013. The team has also produced some of the best players in Major League Baseball such as Gerrit Cole, Trevor Bauer and Chase Utley.

One record that has stood for UCLA baseball for quite some time is the most strikeouts in a season. That record is currently held by Gerrit Cole, who struck out 158 batters in 2011. However, that record could be in jeopardy as two current Bruins pitchers are making a strong case to break it.

Sophomore right-hander Griffin Canning currently leads the team with 115 strikeouts, while junior left-hander Lauren Meyers isn’t far behind with 113. If both pitchers can keep up their current pace, they could combine to break Cole’s single-season record.

While strikeouts are impressive, they don’t tell the whole story when it comes to pitching. Meyers has been stellar this season as he sports a 2.49 ERA and a 10-3 record, while Canning has a 3.48 ERA and an 8-5 record. Both pitchers have been key members of the Bruins’ rotation this season and will look to lead the team deep into the postseason once again.

The highest batting average in a season is .481, set by George Sisler of the St. Louis Browns in 1920. Sisler also holds the record for most hits in a season, with 257.

Lowest ERA in a season
