The St. Petersburg baseball team has a long and storied history. Founded in 1914, the team has been through many ups and downs, but they have always had a place in the hearts of the people of St. Petersburg.
The team was originally known as the St. Petersburg Saints, and they played their first game in March of 1914 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The 1960s were a tough decade for the team, as they only made it to the playoffs once during that time period. However, things started to turn around again in the 1970s as they made it back-to-back appearances in the playoffs in 1974 and 1975. The team continued to be competitive throughout the rest of the decade, making it back to the playoffs again in 1979.
