South Dakota State Baseball Releases 2019 Schedule

The 2019 South Dakota State baseball schedule has been released. The Jackrabbits will open their season on February 15th with a three-game series against Omaha.

The 2019 South Dakota State baseball season will be the Jackrabbits’ 119th season of play, their 98th season as a Division I program, and their 5th season in the Summit League They will play their home games at Erv Huether Field at Hardrockers Stadium on the campus of South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, South Dakota The Jackrabbits will be led by Head Coach Eric Lautenbach, in his 3rd year at South Dakota State

The Jackrabbits are coming off a 34-22 campaign in 2018 that saw them reach the Championship game of the Summit League tournament. SDSU will look to solidify its position atop the conference this season with a strong non-conference slate that includes games against Iowa, Creighton, Nebraska and Minnesota.

“We are excited about our 2019 schedule,” said head coach Rob Bishop. “It provides our guys with an opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the region. Our schedule will prepare us for the rigors of Summit League play.”

SDSU will open the season with a six-game homestand, starting Feb. 15 against North Dakota State The Jackrabbits will then host Oral Roberts (Feb. 22-24) and Omaha (March 1-3) before hitting the road for a series at Iowa (March 8-10).

The Jackrabbits will open the season with a four-game series against UT Rio Grande Valley on Feb. 15-18 at J.L. Johnson Stadium. SDSU will then host Creighton for a three-game series Feb. 22-24 before hitting the road for a four-game set at Omaha on March 1-3.

SDSU’s first conference series will be March 8-10 at Fort Wayne followed by home series against Omaha (March 15-17), South Dakota (March 29-31) and North Dakota State (April 5-7). The Jackrabbits will then hit the road for conference series at Western Illinois (April 12-14), Denver (April 19-21) and Oral Roberts (May 3-5).

SDSU will close out the regular season with home series against Purdue Fort Wayne (May 10-12) and Oral Roberts (May 17-19). The Jackrabbits will then travel to Sioux Falls for the Summit League tournament, which runs from May 23-26 at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Opening Day

The Jackrabbits will open their 2019 season on February 15 against Western Illinois at Erv Huether Field in Brookings, South Dakota It will be the first of a three-game series against the Leathernecks.

After winning a program-record 41 games and reaching the postseason for the first time since 2008, the South Dakota State Baseball Team will look to build on that success in 2019.
