Ronnie Dawson was born in 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the youngest of three brothers. His father, Henry “High Pockets” Dawson, was a semiprofessional player who encouraged all his sons to play baseball Ronnie started playing at age five in the local sandlots. He attended Seton High School where he played shortstop on the varsity team for four years. Ronnie’s team lost the City Championship his senior year, but he was voted Most Valuable Player by his teammates.

Ronnie Dawson was born on October 10, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas. He grew up playing baseball and football in high school but he decided to pursue a career in baseball after graduation. He played minor League Baseball for a few years before being called up to the Cubs in 1958.

Dawson spent his entire Major League career with the Cubs, playing for them from 1958-1975. He was a two-time All-Star and won a Gold Glove award in 1970. He batted .283 for his career with 201 home runs and 975 RBIs.

After he retired from baseball, Dawson became involved in various business ventures. He also started the Ronnie Dawson Foundation, which provides financial assistance to needy families and children in need of medical care.

Dawson passed away on September 28, 2003 at the age of 68 due to complications from pneumonia.
