The Top Pop Music Artists of the 2000s

In this blog post, we’ll be taking a look at the top pop music artists of the 2000s. This decade saw the rise of some of the most iconic and influential artists in pop music history.

Introduction

It’s hard to believe that the 2000s are already over. This decade has seen the rise of social media, the fall of major record labels, and the advent of a new generation of music stars. In honor of the end of this decade, we’ve compiled a list of the top pop music artists of the 2000s.

The criteria for this list are simple: each artist must have released at least one album during the 2000s, and they must be currently active (so sorry, no Britney or Justin). We’ve also decided to focus on English-language artists, so you won’t find any Latino superstars like Shakira or Jenni Rivera on this list.

And without further ado, here are the top pop music artists of the 2000s:

1. Beyonce
2. Rihanna
3. Lady Gaga
4. Taylor Swift
5. Adele

Britney Spears is one of the most successful pop music artists of the 2000s. She has sold over 100 million records worldwide and has had numerous hit singles, including “Oops!… I Did It Again”, “Toxic”, and “Womanizer”. The album sold over one million copies and he became the youngest artist ever to have a Billboard Hot 100 number-one single with “Nice & Slow”.

Usher’s follow-up album My Way (1997) was certified six-time platinum in the US. Like its predecessor it produced top ten hits—”You Make Me Wanna…” and “My Way”—and won him numerous awards including the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for the former. 8701 (2001) produced four consecutive Billboard number one hits—”U Remind Me”, “U Got It Bad”, “U Don’t Have to Call”, and “U Don’t Have to Call”—as well as “What’s Your Phone Number / Uptown Funk”. Looking 4 Myself (2012) became Usher’s sixth US number one album. It featured the hit singles “#1” and “Scream”, both of which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; as well as top five hit single “Climax”.
