The regular season

The regular season for the Pelican baseball team runs from April through September. During this time, the team will play a total of 162 games. 84 of those games will be played at home in their stadium, and the remaining 78 will be played away against other teams in their league.

The schedule is broken down into two main parts: the first half and the second half. The first half of the season is typically considered to be more important, as it gives teams a chance to establish themselves and compete for a spot in the playoffs. The second half is generally seen as less important, as it is more difficult for teams to make up ground that they may have lost in the first half.

During the Regular Season each team in the league will play every other team a total of 19 times. This means that there will be a total of 18 games against each team in your division, and 6 games against each team in the other divisions.

The All-Star game

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game also known as the “Midsummer Classic”, is an annual professional baseball game sanctioned by Major League Baseball (MLB) contested between the All-Stars from the American League (AL) and National League (NL), currently selected by fans for starting fielders, by managers for pitchers, and by MLB for reserves.

The Postseason

– Division Series The top two teams in each league play each other in a best-of-five series. The division winner with the best record gets home-field advantage.
– League Championship Series The winners of the Division Series face each other in a best-of-seven series. Again, the division winner with the best record gets home-field advantage.
– World Series The winners of the American League Championship and National League Championship play each other in a best-of-seven series.

The World Series

The World Series is the annual Championship Series of Major League Baseball (MLB) in North America contested since 1903 between the American League (AL) champion team and the National League (NL) champion team. The winner of the World Series championship is determined through a best-of-seven playoff, and the winning team is awarded the Commissioner’s Trophy. As the series is played during the fall season in North America it is sometimes referred to as the Fall Classic.

The Offseason

After a long, hot summer of baseball, the offseason has finally arrived. For fans of the sport, this is a time to catch our breath, reflect on the season that was, and start looking ahead to the next one. It can be a time of great anticipation, as we wonder which players will be traded or released, who will be signed to new contracts, and which rookies will be called up from the minor leagues.

The offseason is also a time for awards ceremonies and celebrating the accomplishments of players and teams. The most prestigious award in baseball is the World Series MVP, given to the most Valuable Player on the winning team. Other awards include the Cy Young Award (given to the best pitcher in each league), the Rookie of the Year Award (given to the best first-year player in each league), and the Gold Glove Award (given to the best Defensive Player at each position).

As we wait for spring training and Opening Day let’s take a look back at some of the highlights of this past season:

Spring Training

The New Orleans Pelicans are a minor league baseball team that plays in the Pacific Coast League The team is the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros The Pelicans play their home games at the Shrine on Airline, a stadium located in Metairie, Louisiana.
