The band’s debut album, Ten, was released in 1991 and although it was not an immediate commercial success, it slowly gained popularity. Their next album, Vs., was released in 1993 and quickly became their best-selling album, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Pearl Jam’s third album, Vitalogy, was also very successful, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The band has released several more albums since then and is still together today.

“Alive” is a song from Pearl Jam’s debut album, Ten. The song was written by vocalist Eddie Vedder and guitarist Stone Gossard. “Alive” is about a young man who is revealed to be the son of a man who had an affair with his mother. Stone Temple Pilots- Interstate Love Song

The accompanying music video was directed by Peter Gabriel collaborator Matt Mahurin and received heavy rotation on MTV’s 120 Minutes and Headbanger’s Ball.

Bush- Glycerine

“Glycerine” is a song by English rock band Bush. It was released in October 1996 as the first single from their third album, Razorblade Suitcase (1996). The song is in the key of F major. The signature is four power chords scrunched together during the chorus. The video for “Glycerine” was notable for being shot in black-and-white, and for having very little action; frontman Gavin Rossdale is seen simply walking through a forest for most of it.

The song reached number one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and stayed there for 13 weeks. It was also nominated for Best Single at the 1997 Grammy Awards, but lost to Eric Clapton’s “Change the World”. In 2010, Pitchfork Media included the song at number 45 on their Top 200 Songs of the 1990s list. In October 2011, NME placed it at number 90 on its list “150 Best Tracks of the Last 15 Years”.

Silverchair- Tomorrow

Silverchair’s song “Tomorrow” is a great example of grunge style music. The song was released in 1994 and became an instant hit. It has a heavy guitar sound and a catchy chorus. The song is about hope and overcoming adversity.
